Skills Development

Calulo Foundation’s focus on skills development programmes is aligned to  sustainable income generating initiatives. The driving force of this strategy is to increase access to relevant, high quality education; create training and skills development opportunities, including workplace learning and experience that will ultimately enable effective participation in the economy and society, and reduce inequalities.

"effectively responding to the needs of the labour market and social inequality by investing in education, training and skills development."

Vhukoni Incentive Programme

The Vhukoni Incentive Programme is a bursary and support services initiative funded by the Calulo Investments Group. Vhukoni’s mission is to fund tertiary level education,  allowing previously disadvantaged students the opportunity to study towards a career in the petroleum and allied services industry at any university in South Africa. By providing access to tertiary education, the Vhukoni Incentive Programme hopes to play a positive role in overcoming poverty and disempowerment in disadvantaged  communities.

The Calulo Foundation further assists the bursary holder with securing employment during vacations and permanent employment within the Calulo Group, upon successful completion of studies.

Palesa Makau, a recipient of a bursary from the Vhukoni Incentive Programme, recently completed her studies of Bachelor of Accounting at the University of Johannesburg, and was successfully placed for full-time employment with Calulo Fuels as an Accounts Controller in April 2017.
